It's hard switching soaps!

I had no idea just how difficult this transition would be. For YEARS I had used Biokleen laundry products, mostly because they have very little additive of any sort in them. But my clothes looked really worn out. They were clean and fresh, but I am a high performance clothes wearer: I dance and I walk at least 3 miles each day as exercise, then I walk to as many places as I possibly can.  My clothes, even my cute everyday clothes get a workout, and they were starting to smell like it...

I tried extra laundry boosting through Biokleen's Oxygen Bleach. That kinda worked but then the colorfast clothes, well... Then I tried white vinegar, which did work, but it was very time consuming. What worked but needed a lot of tweaking before I found the secret technique was Dr. Bronner's  Peppermint Soap. Most folks would use their Cal-Suds, but the power of peppermint cannot be beat for removing stains of all sorts. From baby poo to grass stains, I've used Dr. Bronners for years to keep my clothes stain free. I highly recommend this soap for spot cleaning and hand washing. And now it's organic! But if you put it in a top-loading machine and you use too much, you will be disappointed at the froth left on your clothes after the rinse cycle.

So in my last post I mentioned that I was buying Mrs. Meyer's on sale. I had begun to use the all purpose cleaner on my clothes--yes I will try and save that dollar--and enjoyed the results but I was back to super-washed out clothes. Now, I was using the All-Purpose Lavender cleaner, but I bought Geranium laundry soap and Lavender Oxygen Bleach. Hmmmm. If you are going Mrs. Meyers, try and stick within the same scent! Next, it is powerful stuff! A little goes a long way to freshening up your wash. If you are asthmatic or struggle with perfumes, I am going to have to recommend you stick to with Biokleen; because Mrs. Meyer's is a concentrated product meant to be diluted, you will suffer when you open the cap. Finally, it is high performing. My old workout clothes smell marvelous and not in that covered up way either.

All three of these brands are outstanding, each with its own special approach to "green clean."   I'm just a super dirty girl;->

Next time, I'll let you in on a great secret product for cleaning your entire house.
